John Finton Takes on the Challenges that come with Creating Fully Sustainable Projects with Enthusiasm

By: Sarah Wilson

Breaking new ground, literally, his team at Finton construction is taking the term "eco-friendly" to new heights. "Its like a treasure hunt, I enjoy being able to try and find the right way to do something that makes sense for the designer, for the clients, and certainly makes sense for the environmental consultant," explains Finton, "people think of environmental, eco-friendly, and green things as not necessarily being attractive," but Finton's designs are as eclectic as they are beautiful. The home he and his team are working on in Malibu is one of the first large scale luxury projects of its kind. Veering away from the conventional design elements in green residences like that of small, modular, and solar paneled, this home will be a Tuscan style masterpiece. Complete with organic garden and compost heap, the residence exceeds expectations as Finton revolutionizes eco-living without sacrificing the luxury and comfort people desire. There are many hurdles to overcome when pursuing LEED certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). With projects in France, London, Moscow, and Mexico, Finton is highly sought after for his expertise and maverick like character. Traveling the world in search of re-useable and reclaimed materials to use in his projects, as well as pioneering other aspects of eco-design makes Finton's projects eclectic and awe inspiring. Finton knows how to bridge the gap between the needs of Mother Earth and the wants of the modern day, style-driven client. With homes as beautiful as they are beneficial, Finton is making waves in his field of construction as well as preserving the ones in our seas.
